About
Hi, and welcome to Race for a Million!
What lies here is a competition between two friends to try and find who is more succesful at making money online. The competition officially starts on September 1st. Here are the current rules, which are subject to change until the start date:
- Each competition will run for 6 months, upon which all totals will be reset.
- A ‘monthly’ winner will be declared at the end of each month.
- The starting amount is £10, and all profit/loss should stem from this amount.
- You are not allowed to bring in previously registered and active domain names, websites already earning money etc.
- You can bring in pre-registered domain names that have no content associated with them, so long as you deduct the original price paid from your amount.
- Each player is allowed assistance from outside sources.
- Profit and loss must be declared in detail to each other player to prevent cheating.
- If a player is in a negative amount at the end of a month, they have an option to ‘reset’ their total back to £10. However, they are not able to carry any previous items purchased with the original amount.
- At the end of each month, a ‘working’ fee will be deducted from the totals. This will be 10% of the previous months totals. This is for slightly added realism for working hours put in etc.
The Players
Dan – Hey, I’m 23 years old and desperate to start my own businesses. I have some great ideas, and some good computer skills that I want to put to use on this competition. I’m confident I have the resources and smarts to win!
Gray – I’m Graham and I’ll be the one that tries to squeeze as much money out of online ventures as I can so I can see Dan’s red face! Dan and I have been taught the same sort of things at university but have learnt different techniques and methods since being in the working world, so this should be interesting. I’ve learnt a lot the hard way though, being a scammers dream at one point, so hopefully this time I’ll be more careful.
