It’s Not Going Well…

Monday, October 13th

So, I’m almost half-way into the month, and what do I have to show for it? An ongoing website sale for someone who hasn’t paid me, or contacted me back! I had so much more planned for this month – unfortunately I haven’t had much luck. I’v been unusually busy these past few weeks, and have found it hard to fit in any money making activities around my schedule. Then the times I do have free to make money, I have no energy left and just want to sleep – its not a recipe for success really is it?

Unfortunately, it does seem that the website sale industry is being affected by the dreaded credit crunch, with websites selling very cheaply. One of the blogs I read talks about the decline of the sitepoint marketplace over the past few weeks. However, he also says how he has managed to profit from this decline.

It also seems that a lot of blogs are also loosing their momentum currently, with a lot of people not updating for days on end. On one of the blogs that I used to visit, the poster has just dissaperaed off the face of the planet it seems, not updating for almost 2 weeks. Now I can’t really say anything either, as I have also been slack in updating this blog recently – mostly due to being busy, but sometimes I could have easily written a post up but was most likely distracted by something shiny!

I need to start taking this a lot more seriously – almost as a second job that I must do. Saying it like that doesnt make it sound too appealing, but its the only way I can view myself fully committing to this. A good example of this is the project I started recently; I speant a whole night on it, and then left it for a couple of days, within which I decided it was too much work for me to do, and have now left it for good to move onto yet another that may again ‘prove too hard’ for me. However if I look at it in the form of a job, then I have no choice but to do it.

I have two projects in mind as it stands, and they aren’t website sales. With the way the sitepoint marketplace seems to be going currently, website sales are not going to be my best be for success. I will be creating an online ’service’ which will be available for free (at least during its start-up), and also creating an eBook sales site. I have previously spoken about my ’free’ eBook, and then harped on about the other that I was going to sell, but I still havent managed to sit down and type it up yet. I have the materials available to do so, but sadly I can’t hire someone to write it up for me, as the material is scare and quite unique, so I have no choice but to write it myself.

If I can get just one of these products up and running by the end of the month, I’ll be pleased. I think I will start with the eBook one as that stands to make more money in the short term, all the while planning my ‘long term’ website prospect. I’ll keep you informed :)
