I agree and think it's a great idea. I have a few blogs that have good, well written advice on them, but they only get maybe 100 UV's a day because I'm not that great at promotion. I'm a university educated writer, but I'm at the elementary school level when it comes to marketing my thoughts...lol

Social Media Bloggers last blog post..Follow Me On Twitter!

I would think if you have a blog that covers multiple topics, chances are, you aren't going to in-depth with any particular one of them. Therefore, your ebook could be the in-depth coverage of one of the subjects of your blog.

Also, the free ebook could bring readers back or draw in new ones. I have seen a lot of sites do the subscribe to my blog and get this ebook free. If you make them do the email subscription, you have captured their email and can send the RSS and maybe newsletters later on. Assuming they don't unsubscribe.

Agreed! Everything should be done in the best of interest of the readers. You need to create value that the readers could appreciate.

Interesting idea! My point here is this, if someone fails to bring in readers and create the kind of excitement, how well can he fare selling the ebook?

Well it depends on if you think they will sell. I mean, the advice given on some blogs I visit is well worth $5, if not more, and they don't particularly have many readers. I think the information could be good, its just you haven't been able to actually 'get' people to your website in order for them to become readers.

Also you have to remember, even crap sells ;) lol

interesting ... you got me thinking a bit here LOL
I do like the idea of collecting your best posts and wrap them up to give away to your readers, maybe as an incentive to actually sign up for your feed ;) but collecting them and then sell them on ... especially if the past has shown people weren´t really that interested in the posts to start off with, not sure about that ...

It's a true fact, but then again a lot of what is available for sale online is rubbish :P

As I said in the post, it should be done if you think your content is upto scratch. I mean, without readers you can't really get a basis if its any good, unless you get the posts reviewed!

It could work and the readers wouldn't feel cheated if you gave them a good product. Problem with most dead blogs is probably the fact that their 'product' wouldn't be up to scratch and you wouldn't be popular at all if you sold them a pile of trash.
