Make $10 (Or More) By The End Of The DayMonday, January 5th |
As I sat in front of the computer screen, processing my daily thoughts, I thought to myself: how can I start 2009 (bar my new years entry) with a post that people would like, and appreciate. Then it hit me – if this is a money making blog, why not give your readers a way to make a definite cash sum by the end of the day! Pretty good idea no?
Well, its true, you can walk away from today with an extra $10 or more - if your willing to dive in to what I have to offer! Now its not a money making idea that you will profit from in the long term, however it will bring in little bits of cash here and there…and maybe even a few free drinks if you do it right! So what is it? Well, for this, your going to have to go…offline…
Its The Start Of Something NewThursday, January 1st |
First thing first, happy new 2009 to everyone! Second things, I apologise for using a high school musical song line to start this blog post – haha.
This is just a short post to let you know I am currently still on my ‘break’, and will be returning back to posting next Monday. I have been working on a couple of new projects, and have got myself quite in ‘over my head’ but they look to be very promising. I’ll be sharing the details of them as they progress, along with giving you valuable information I have learnt along the way. I have some great posts lined up for this coming year, so for those of you lucky enough to know about this blog, be prepared for a very good year!
Catch you soon racers! Hope you have all had a great holiday.

Merry Christmas! What Can I Do For You?Wednesday, December 24th |
Hey all, you will most likely be reading this on Christmas day, or afterwards if you don’t happen to check on the day! So to all of you, a very merry christmas! Seeing as this is the giving time of year, I wanted to try and give something to you guys. Now normally I do this is the form of ideas and ways to make money online, but after a comment left in my last post, I’ve decided to do some research into blogging tools…
The Magic Of Finding Blogs To Comment OnThursday, December 18th |
Now, a good way to market the fact you have a blog is by leaving comments on other peoples blogs. This hopefully gains a visit from the blogger whose blog you have posted on, and possibly more visits from anyone that reads the comments. However, finding these blogs is pretty difficult if you don’t know how to do it, or if you are unfamiliar with any other blogs of your type. I personally have found all my blogs by following comment after comment on other blogs that I ‘knew about’. Using this method you can find some good blogs – but they might not be exactly what you need. Well, what if there was an exact way to search google, so that it would show you all the blogs on the topic that you wanted, along with any back links being ‘dofollow’? What if you could even specify to find blogs that currently have no comments on their posts? Well…I actually stumbled across the method.
For The Love Of Commentators – My PluginTuesday, December 16th |
Well as you might know from yesterdays post, I created a nice little plugin. However, I found there was a niggling little issue with it which screwed up the home page. I managed to find what it was that was going wrong (to do with database access), and now it is all fixed, and ready to be used! If you’d like to know more about the plugin, check out yesterdays’ post, which describes exactly what it does. If you simply want to download it, you can do so here.
To view the plugin (and its output), head to the settings part of your wordpress admin panel, and choose ‘FTLO Commentators’.
Hope you guys get some use out of this, and let me know what improvements you might like to see!

A Plugin For All, And For All A Good NightMonday, December 15th |
Hey all, its Monday again, which means a long week of work. Some of you luckier ones may be on your holidays, whereas I am stuck in the office at work, with actually very little to do! With my bosses away I have had to take on dribs and drabs of work…which ultimately has led to me developing a little plugin for wordpress! For those of you who have read my blog before, its a little bit like the one I had discussed previously, but not as ‘fancy’. It’s taken me most of the day to write it (who knew how fiddly it all could get), but I offer it for you who wish to use it! It is still in the early stages, but preliminary tests show that it is working at its ‘basic’ level.
Stop Yammering On – What Is It?
Well, basically its a plugin which allows you to see all of the people who have commented on your blog so far, along with how many times the individual has posted and the different names (or ‘aliases’) they have used when commenting on your site. I developed it because I was finding it hard to keep track of who had posted a comment on my blog, and when I wanted to visit those sites to say thank-you (or just check on what others had written), I had to look around to find them. This plugin allows you to display them in a (somewhat) tidy fashion in your actual admin console.
Idea Of The WeekFriday, December 12th |
So, I promised you all an idea this Friday afternoon, and I’m not one to bail on a promise. Now I have a lot of ideas on a regular basis; some of which are ridiculous (but would totally work) and some which actually have potential. Yet the ideas I have are very varied, and not many people are interested in the methods I suggest – no offence taken or meant.
My latest idea, being the film cell frames, has the potential to bring in a nice side income, but as some people commented, they aren’t too hot on selling on eBay. Others simply lacked the ‘physical prowess’, or simply were focused about making money online without creating products. Some simply disliked the idea. The list goes on. Basically what I am trying to say (albeit badly), is that I want to keep giving you guys ideas, but I’d like to know from you guys what types of things you’d like to see. If you’d like to see more ideas about making money by building websites, writing articles, etc. let me know – give me the topic and I will research / think.
My Film Frame Results!Thursday, December 11th |
So as promised, I successfully completed my film frame, and have the photographs to prove it! You can see the starting photo here and the completed product here. I would embed the photos into the post, but sadly they are quite big, and quite blurry (thanks to my phone being a bit rubbish), but you should be able to see them ok.
As you can see, I started out with a variety of materials – some of which were standard; sellotape, scissors etc. The frame I bought for £1.50 in a cheap store, and luckily it came with a transparent back, meaning I didn’t have to somehow ‘hack’ the back of a picture frame out. So I decided I would only use one piece of black paper (cost of 20 pence), the film cells, and the postcard that came with them (approximately cost me £1.50). Plus the sellotape I bought, that comes to under £5. Not bad!
The Best Laid Plans of Mice And BloggersWednesday, December 10th |
Yes, it’s me, I’m not dead. Promise. If you hadn’t of read in my little ‘news update’ tab, I have been without Internet now for almost 10 days. It’s a pretty long time, and I have had a lot of time to think about some new projects to get underway, so it wasn’t all in vain. Now I just have to try and claw back my loyal readers’ respect! So let’s start by addressing some things I’ve promised and not delivered (and why) – and things to come for the future of this blog (which I’m not selling, despite the recent trend. Kudos to those who know what I’m talking about).
The Film Cell Frame
Now I know I promised you guys pictures of the finished product I described in my last post (before I went off the grid), and it is all made…I just haven’t brought in the picture of it to work with me today. However, tonight I will get the pictures off of my phone, and put them on a USB drive to upload tomorrow. The results are quite interesting, so I think you’ll be pleased to see what I’ve come up with, and how much it cost me…
Craft Your Way To SuccessMonday, December 1st |
I have just moved into my new apartment, so don’t have Internet unless at work, of which I will only be in today and tomorrow…you can keep up-to-date with my ‘issues’ by visiting the ‘my updates’ link above.
So, as you may know, I like to give you all ideas on how to make money – and not just hypothetical ideas. Real ideas that you could go out and make money on. Well, I thought I would share another technique I have found in order to give you guys a little bit more money this Christmas. It involves getting a little bit ‘crafty’, and can see you a very good return if you are good at it! Its also an ideal Christmas gift if you aren’t sure what to get someone this year, so you get the best of both worlds! I won’t go into the details of exactly how the item is made (as it should be pretty obvious), but we will go through how it can benefit you financially, which is what matters. Ok, so lets take a look at what it is we are going to sell…
