Website Flipping – Watching the cool kids

Tuesday, September 9th

All the cool kids are doing it, hanging out of the back of the gym, in the bike sheds, down at the swinging new joint, all on their laptops and flipping websites. Obviously because its the cool thing we don’t need to know WHY we should be doing it, but I’ll let you know anyway.

Website flipping seems to be one of the quickest and easiest ways of making money online ATM. The profits in website flipping aren’t always great, and it depends how much work your willing to put in, but an hours work can get you a substantial return of £100/$200 or more, depending on what you do.

The idea behind website flipping is that you buy a domain and point that towards some hosting. You then produce some content on that website, advertise it a bit, and then sell it on for profit? Sound ridiculous? I thought so too, but after hearing some wild stories about it, I’m torn.

Let me give you a more detailed example of what you might do to create a website flip. After looking around you buy a domain called topless-women.com (definatly buy a .com domain, it immediatly gives you extra money when selling it as .com is the most popular web address). You point it towards some website hosting you get online and you install word press on it. You then make a few posts with pictures of topless women, maybe create a gallery page etc. Then you list it for sale on a popular site like sitepoint.com and wait for someone to buy. Simple no?

I personally haven’t had a chance to try this out yet, namely as I have had no computer in order to do it. However, as soon as I can I will let you know how my test goes, step by step. I don’t perceive that I’ll make a lot of money via it, but I do hope it will give me some experience in it so that I can do better next time.

On a side note, my ‘free’ ebook site is now up, and tomorrow I will be buying some AdWords for it to get some traffic. Its going to bring me down to -£21 most likely, but Im sure I’ll make that money back…eventually.
